As early as 12 years old, young girls are given in marriage by their families to help ease the financial burdens. Child births among these girls, where the mother is not physically mature, are dangerous and increase their chances of health complications during pregnancy and delivery.

According to the World Health Organization, in low-income countries of South Asia, “complications from pregnancy and childbirth are a leading cause of death among girls aged 15-19 years.” In the villages where GFM serves, women and young girls die daily from pregnancy complications. In these rural, poor communities, young wives and mothers have no access to medical care.

GFM has risen to meet this critical need by establishing Hope Medical Center. Our 13,000+ sq. ft. Hope Hospital provides new access to free primary medical care for 100,000+ villagers. It is the only medical care facility in the region. Eye care, surgeries, urgent care, and OBGYN care are provided, meeting a critical need of families. Hope Medical Center also houses doctors and medical staff.

Lives of child brides and their babies have a much greater chance of survival with our healthcare services. By sponsoring our innovative healthcare programs, you join us in meeting critical needs holistically, changing thousands of lives with the love and message of Christ.

Not only are we able to impact an entire region of rural communities in poverty by providing their first ever local access to vital healthcare, but Hope Medical Center is self-sustaining. Agricultural programs like a banana plantation, fish ponds, and coconut trees provide the income needed for maintenance of the facility.
